The Gear Jam Vintage Drags, Car Show and Swap Meet is, October 13-14, at the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia.

We’re proud to have the Southeast Nostalgia Drag Racing group on-hand with Nostalgia Super Stocks and Gassers (Sponsored by Lamar Walden Automotive Race Engines), and racers from The Southern Slingshots will be participating in the Front Engine Dragster class!

Hot Rod Deluxe Magazine will also be here covering the event.

Racing and Classes
We have four nostalgia-only classes, all run on an Index format: Gasser, Front Engine Dragster, Muscle Car and Hot Rod. Our classes, rules and indexes are posted at www.gearjamvintagedrags.com We’ve kept it simple, fair and fun, ensuring anyone can come out and have a good time.
We have a guaranteed $1,000 purse for each class, with no minimum car count in any class. $500 to win per class, $300 runner-up, $50 semi-final round win, $25 quarter-final round win
We will also have First Round Buy-Backs, for anyone who slept through the yellows. (Racers can only buy back into the class they entered—no changing classes after Eliminations begin)

Hours
The gates will open at 7am to let swap meet vendors and racers in.
Spectator gates open at 8am.
Tech opens at 8am, on-track at 10am.
Eliminations begin after lunch.
There will be two rounds of qualifying.

Swap Meet
Vendor set-up 7am.
$30 for all the space you want; ONE driver, one helper. Additional vehicles with separate drivers will be $30.
Cars for sale will be $30 as well. If you’re bringing in a car to sell and parts, with a separate driver, contact me and we’ll work it out ahead of time. If you show up at the gate with two vehicles and no prior communication, you’ll be charged for two vendor spaces.

Car Show, sponsored by Chuck Keene’s Georgia Hot Rods
Judged car show opens at 8am.
All cars must be registered and entered to be judged, by 12:00 noon. You can still enter your car in the show after 12:00, but it won’t be judged for an award.
Awards at 3pm.
Entry: $30 for driver, wife and kids.
$10 for all additional adults.

Awards are Top 20, Best: GM, Ford, Mopar, Orphan, Rat Rod, and Best of Show.

Car show participants will get to do Test and Tune runs between rounds. YOU MUST PASS TECH to make Car Show Test and Tune runs!

AND, just so we don’t have a repeat of last year’s “Run To The Sand Trap,” you will be asked to sign a form stating that you have run a vehicle on a drag strip before, and that you know where the finish line is, where the turn-offs are, and know the proper procedure for exiting the race track. (Yes, last year we had two guys drag race each other all the way to the sand trap. It makes for a funny story now, but I think I can speak for everyone when I say “Let’s not do that again.”)

Cruisin’ Commerce, 6-10pm
Come for the race, stay for the cruise!
For the fourth year in a row, the City of Commerce is once again graciously hosting us! Cruising on the main drag, live band, beer garden and food vendors has made Cruisin’ Commerce one of the most anticipated events of the year.

As in years past, the atmosphere is going to be fun and laid back, with cruising encouraged… and while we can’t say normal vehicle laws will not apply like open headers and slicks… everybody appreciates the sound of a good exhaust note!

But—and here’s the KEY point—there’s zero tolerance for lugnuts acting like idiots. Each year, someone has gotten a Driver Appreciate Aware from the City Of Commerce for running through the gears or squawking their tires.  Don’t be a lugnut.

And obviously, any kind of Driving Under the Influence is going to have no mercy whatsoever.
The city wants us to have fun, and they really, genuinely like us being there—so be cool and don’t screw it up for all of us!
